Favourite book?

Hello Nerdfighters, just thought I would ask all of you – since Nerdfighters are usually well-read – what’s your favourite book? Personally mine is “Looking For Alaska” by leading Nerdfighter John Green.

The Nerdfighters Gazette is an online magazine made for Nerdfighters, by Nerdfighters. You can post stuff on the Ning, but it will not make the front page!

My favorite book? Hmm… Well obviously John Green’s books are far superior. But then there’s Harry Potter… And for a long time, it was “The Great Good Thing” by Roderick Townley (good book). I dunno. Don’t make me choose!

Fahrenheit 451 – Ray Bradbury. Still stands up after all these years.

I’ve never read that actually, I’ve heard it’s rather good though.

Nothing I’ve read since I was 12 has managed to get a hold on me quite like Tolkien’s The Hobbit.

Yeah, I remember reading The Hobbit a few times over, it was my favourite book for quite a long time.

John Green’s books are amazing. However, I am really into the Ender Series of Orson Scott Card.

The His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman. Specifically the last one, the Amber Spyglass.

Oh, I love those books. They made me cry. They are so wonderful, and you’re right. The Amber Spyglass is amazing.

Inkheart by Cornelia Funke. That is probably the best written book I’ve read. When you read it, you can actually see the places she describes and taste the words on your tongue. It’s so lovingly done, and it’s a reading experience, not just a book to me.

Great book! I haven’t read it in a while though. Hopefully, I can remedy that soon

I’d have to say The Bitch Goddess Notebook by Martha O’Connor or one of Cathy’s Book or Cathy’s Key (I can’t remember the author/s of those two, sorry). The first one’s just great, but the last two have pre-done doodles all over the pages that relate to the story being told and are supposed to have been done by the main character and it’s a really cool story as well.

The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck and The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay.
Those ones seem to stay on my list, others come and go..

A Brave New World. The fact that it rings eerily true in many ways today makes it a fascinating read in my opinion.

So many great books have already been mentioned, but I have always loved the Scions of Shannara series by Terry Brooks. They are a part of a great fantasy world, and the characters are utterly amazing.
I’ve also started reading some of the Doctor Who novels that exist, and to be honest they’re quite good. I think most of them are written by different authors, so you get many different kind of adventures and narratives.

I almost forgot Neil Gaiman’s novels. Completely brilliant. There is no other word for it.

The inheritance series, Eragon, eldest, brisingr, and eventually the fourth. Eldest is probably my favorite.
